MARCUS GRONHOLM and Timo Rautiainen continue to lead the Swedish Rally at the end of the second leg.

The Peugeot pair lost time on the leg's opening stage when a hole knocked the car's tracking out of line. Gronholm complained of the car being difficult to control but he managed to set third fastest time on the stage.

Subaru's Tommi Makinen and Kaj Lindstrom are in second position, 38.8 seconds behind Gronholm, while Richard Burns and Robert Reid are third in their Peugeot.

Ford's Markko Martin and Michael Park moved up to fourth position after both Juuso Pykalisto and Harri Rovanpera retired on stage eight. Pykalisto rolled his Peugeot with the car coming to rest in the middle of the road. Harri Rovanpera arrived at the scene of the accident on full song and ploughed into Pykalisto's car. Nobody was injured in either incident.

After ending leg one in 13th position, Colin McRae and Derek Ringer have fought their way up the leaderboard into fifth position. McRae says he still doesn't have the confidence that he needs in the car but nonetheless he is the highest placed Citroen driver. Top ten and stage notes below:
